“We had a lot of fun in the activities you assigned to us! Personally, it was a great experience to work together with that amazing group.”
-ILCWR Volunteer, May 2011
Volunteering with ILCWR is a great way to learn and develop new skills, meet great people and help out in your community!
The Independent Living Centre of Waterloo Region places tremendous value on our volunteers, whether they are serving on our Board of Directors, assisting with administrative tasks around the office, helping out at our special events or puppeteering with the Kids on the Block program!
Check out the listings below for our current volunteer opportunities, or visit www.volunteerkw.ca for listings from ILCWR and other community organizations!

A background in law or finance is preferred, along with some familiarity with the health care system and with access and awareness issues for persons with disabilities. We are also seeking applicants who are residents of the Townships of Wellesley, Woolwich, Wilmot, North Dumfries or the City of Cambridge.
To apply, fill out the online application or contact Mallory Boyer, Executive Assistant at (519)571-6788 ext. 7488 or mallory@ilcwr.org. Applications are due Thursday July 18th, 2013.
Volunteer Puppeteers (Kids on the Block)
The Kids on the Block program have been providing fun and educational puppet shows to children since 1983. Volunteers are trained to use a variety of puppets with and without disabilities to perform scripted shows for children. Volunteers will learn the different scripts and understand the issues present for disabled populations. Volunteers must have physical stamina to operate the puppets, public speaking/acting skills, solid English communication skills and ability to work closely with others. Volunteering as a puppeteer is an excellent opportunity for those interested in counseling and therapy, teaching, theatre and the special needs population.
To apply, contact Andrena Lockley-Brown, Kids on the Block Coordinator at andrena@ilcwr.org.
