The Accessibility
for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) 2005 requires our province
to be completely accessible by the year 2025. The AODA is a way
for Ontario to become barrier-free with regards to architecture,
customer service, technology and so much more.
In order to inform the community about the various barriers that
exist for people with disabilities, the Independent Living Centre
of Waterloo Region has put together a Sensitivity Training Program.
The workshops cover such topics as language, stereotypes, duty to
accommodate and universal design and can be tailored to meet the
needs of each group.
