SUPPORTIVE
HOUSING SURVEY RESULTS
ILCWR Supportive Housing Unit (SHU) stakeholders
were asked in the spring of 2004 to evaluate attendant services.
Consumers, attendants, supervisors, caregivers, board members and
community members provided input.
The evaluation examined
to what extent specific SHU activities were helping us to fulfill
our short-term and long-term goals. Responses were received
from 21 consumers, 42 staff and 4 supervisors.

Supportive
Housing Open Space Meeting held on June 21, 2004
Rather than ILCWR talking about the changes that
would be made to supportive housing as a result of survey results,
we had a different kind of meeting with no preset agenda. Thirty-seven
consumers, attendants, supervisors, board and community members
and other staff participated in an Open Space format. We turned
the chairs into a big circle and spent time coming up with topics
related to the following theme: “Issues, passions, and possibilities
for the future of Supportive Housing”.
Then
individuals met to discuss topics
of interest* to them and their discussion notes were recorded
by someone in the group. The principle of
the Law of Mobility was followed: which states that you have the
right to move to wherever you need to be to maximize your own learning
and contribution. At the end of the day participants voted on which
topics they were most interested in. Five
topics* rose to the top. People then met to form Action
Teams* to meet a few times in order to make a recommendation
to the ILC Leadership Team (Executive Director, Director of Finance,
Human Resources Director, and Director of Program Development).
To
conclude the process, the Director of Program Development made a
final report to all SHU stakeholders.
