The Independent Living Centre of Waterloo Region is proud to offer a spectrum of donor-funded programs to help people with disabilities live independently in our community.
In order to keep offering these vital programs, we turn to the support of people like you. Every dollar we receive goes directly to supporting our neighbours with disabilities throughout Waterloo Region, and allows us to remove barriers to accessibility in our community.
Your financial gift will help us to assist people with disabilities achieve independence
through one of these valuable programs:
Access and Awareness
When you invest in Access and Awareness programs, you’re ensuring that people with disabilities in Waterloo Region always have somewhere to turn in difficult times. Through our Information & Referral, Peer Resource and Individual Advocacy programs, our Access and Awareness programs connect people with the resources, services, agencies and networks they need to overcome barriers, meet their needs and participate fully in the community. A gift to Access and Awareness means maintaining a crucial first point of contact for people of all abilities in Waterloo Region.
Kids on the Block
When you invest in Kids on the Block, you’re providing important lessons to children on specific disabilities and also broader themes of friendship, community-building, and the importance of expressing feelings and celebrating difference. These entertaining puppet shows are fun to watch, and offer children a chance to ask questions and learn about overcoming attitudinal barriers. Only through education can we create meaningful change in our community, and a gift to the Kids on the Block program is one way to make change happen!
Access Fund
When you invest in the Access Fund, you’re helping people with disabilities to purchase equipment to improve personal care and mobility. These Assistive Devices can be prohibitively expensive for an individual, but they are truly invaluable to the people who use them. Adding your gift to the accumulated amount in the Access Fund is just one of the ways you can have a direct impact on creating an independent lifestyle for someone with a disability.
