The Independent Living Centre of Waterloo Region is committed to the removal of barriers for people with disabilities.  We are proud to serve this thriving and inclusive community, but there are still obstacles to the full participation of people with disabilities that must be removed to make Waterloo Region an inspirational leader in accessibility.

We believe that the first and most important step toward creating a barrier-free environment is to educate our neighbours without disabilities on the barriers that exist, and how we can eliminate them as a community.

That’s why our Public Awareness & Education division offers great programs for educating people of all ages on issues related to disability and accessibility.

Our most popular program, Kids on the Block, has been delighting audiences of children with entertaining and educational puppet shows for almost 30 years.

And, with the introduction of standards pertaining to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), it has never been more important for businesses to educate themselves on accessibility in the workplace.
