Individual Advocacy is one of the leading ways that the Independent Living Centre of Waterloo Region helps people with disabilities to achieve independence and participate fully in the community. 

Information & Referral

The Independent Living Centre of Waterloo Region is proud to be the first point of contact for anyone with any disability in this community. 

Through our Information & Referral program, we can offer informational assistance for people with disabilities, their friends and family, and the community at large.

Youth In Transition

      The Youth in Transition program brings teens and young adults of all abilities together in a fun, supportive environment to help them prepare for becoming an independent adult.

Public Awareness & Education

The Independent Living Centre of Waterloo Region is committed to the removal of barriers for people with disabilities.  We are proud to serve this thriving and inclusive community, but there are still obstacles to the full participation of people with disabilities that must be removed to make Waterloo Region an inspirational leader in accessibility.

Peer Resource

The Peer Resource program at the Independent Living Centre of Waterloo Region can provide navigational assistance for individuals with disabilities who are new to the community, new to their disability, or looking to pursue goals like employment or education.

By offering a support network of people with disabilities and community agencies, the Peer Resource program empowers individuals to find solutions to life’s hurdles through:
