Why Become a Member?
One of the most important ways that you can be involved with the Independent Living Centre of Waterloo Region is to become a member of the organization!
The Board of Directors, which acts to guide the philosophical direction of the organization and monitor its functioning, is ultimately accountable to the membership of the organization, and members are essential to the development and service provision of any consumer-based, non-profit organization.
In other words, ILCWR’s members are ILCWR’s owners!
Membership is a great way to keep up to date on the activities of the organization, and it provides the opportunity for further involvement down the road.
Being a member entitles you to a voice in the operation of the Centre through:
- Voting privileges at the Annual General Meeting
- Eligibility to sit on the ILCWR Board of Directors
- A subscription to The Forum newsletter and yearly Annual Report
- Special invitations to events, meetings and other opportunities as presented by our organization
(Please note that ILCWR staff are not eligible for voting or Board membership privileges).
