| IN-HOME
RESPITE is designed to provide relief
to primary care givers and consumers through a variety of flexible
options.
Eligibility Criteria:
- permanent physical disabilities
- requires personal care
- 16 years of age or older
- Able to direct services independently
- OHIP eligible
Regular Respite:
In-Home Respite is designed as a meaningful break for primary caregivers. It is intended to be discretionary service and is not to be essential in nature, unlike day to day ongoing assistance.
Consumers who are eligible for the program will receive a maximum of 150 hours/year and will be booked on a first come, first served basis.
Consumers may request the hours in time allotments that best suits their needs, with a 1 hour minimum. Service is also based on attendant availability. These hours can be pre-scheduled regular ongoing shifts or booked for a temporary period of time.
Consumer vacation:
An attendant may accompany a consumer on vacation to a maximum of 20 days per year with a limit of 5 hours per day of attendant services. All other costs – travel, lodging and food are to be covered by the consumer. Any additional service above the 5 hours/day is to be arranged between the consumer and the attendant.
If you are a current Outreach consumer, your regular hours will be suspended while on holiday (i.e. the 5 hours per day is not paid on top of regular Outreach hours.).
If you need more than the maximum hours available,
additional respite may be purchased. Service is available depending
on Attendant availability and budget. For more information, please
contact our In-Home Respite Supervisor.
For additional information about other attendant care supports please visit our Outreach Program or our Supportive Housing Program.
