IN-HOME
RESPITE is designed to provide relief
to primary care givers and consumers through a variety of flexible
options.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
permanent physical disabilities
require personal care
16 years of age or older
able to direct services independently or with
minor assistance
OHIP eligible

PREVENTATIVE RESPITE
Caregiver relief for meaningful durations
of time, including weekends and vacation up to 14 consecutive days
to a maximum of 26 (24 hour) days (624 hours). This yearly maximum
would include up to 14 days of vacation if required. The hours could
be divided up in shorter time allotments, but can not exceed two
visits per week.

CONSUMER VACATION
An attendant may accompany a consumer on vacation once a year to
a maximum of 14 consecutive days with a limit of 6 hours per day
of attendant services. All other costs - travel, lodging, food,
service above 6 hours/day - are to be arranged between the consumer
and attendant.

TEMPORARY RESPITE
Service is provided for a defined period of time; a maximum of 14
consecutive 24-hour days. This program is funded by the
Ontario Ministry of Health and there is no cost.
If you need more than the maximum hours available,
additional respite may be purchased. Service is available depending
on Attendant availability and budget. For more information, please
