“Thanks again for the extra ‘caregiver hours’ last Thurs[day] and Fri[day]. I had such a good time in Niagara-on-the-Lake with my friends. It was the first time in MANY years that I have been able to go, and I really appreciate the caregiver support from ILCWR. Please pass on my thanks to [the person] responsible for approving the idea of caregiver support hours.”
-Consumer of ILCWR Attendant Services
Current consumers of attendant services who are already using Outreach or Assisted Living services through the Independent Living Centre of Waterloo Region can also request an attendant to accompany them on vacation. This service can be used to a maximum of 20 days each year, with a limit of 5 hours per day of attendant services.
The 5 hours of attendant services are paid for by the Independent Living Centre of Waterloo Region, but all other costs (travel, lodging, food) are covered by the consumer. Any additional service above the 5 daily hours is to be arranged between the consumer and the attendant.
If you are a current Outreach consumer, your regular hours are suspended while on holiday. The 5 hours of attendant service that you receive on vacation is not paid on top of the regular Outreach hours that you receive each week.
Service is available depending on Attendant availability and budget. For more information, please contact your Supervisor.
