ILCWR
is ACCOUNTABLE to its membership, the consumers it serves,
and the public which funds the programs and services that are delivered.
Accountability cannot be achieved through one measure. Rather, ILCWR
ensures accountability through various means.

TO
CONSUMERS
Further, ILCWR has recognized the need
to increase the ways that it ensures accountability to members,
consumers, and the public. Among the new strategies being implemented
are such projects as:
| |
A
process that involves stakeholders in the developing of agency
policies
|
| |
An
Issue Resolution Policy for consumers to use to address concerns
about their service |
| |
A
Consumer Handbook developed to communicate to consumers the
expectations and responsibilities of ILCWR
|
|
|
Increased
communication to consumers, members, and the public regarding
organizational developments |
| |
Involving
consumers in formal ways to evaluate services (e.g. a yearly
consumer satisfaction survey, and the development of indicators
and benchmarks to measure program outcomes)
|

MISSION
ACCOMPLISHED!
The ILC Board of Directors initiated
an evaluation of our centre's objectives. About 77 consumers responded
to a survey regarding two of the four Mission statements -- which
are below:
The Indepependent Living Centre of Waterloo Region supports persons
with disabilities by;
- facilitating individual growth towards greater independence
- creating opportunities to make informed choices
The results were very positive and
enlightening. If you are interested please refer to the link.
